Janae's Cinnamon Rolls

Mom's Cinnamon Rolls

1 c warm water
1 1/2 Tbsp yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar

1 c milk
1 egg
1/2 c veg. oil
3/4 c sugar
1 Tbsp salt
6 c flour

In a large glass or small bowl combine the water, yeast and 1 Tbsp. sugar. Let stand until creamy and foamy (about 5 minutes). In large bowl combine milk, egg, veg. oil, 3/4 c sugar, salt, and 3 cups of the flour. Add yeast mixture, and then stir in remaining flour. The dough should pull away from the edges of the bowl. Knead for 5 minutes. Roll dough on a floured surface into a rectangle shape about 1/2 inch thick. Spread melted butter (about 1/4 cup), and sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture. You can also add nuts or raisins. Roll up. Cut into inch wide discs, and place on a baking sheet about one inch apart. Rise until double (about 60-90 minutes), and bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Don't not underbake. They are horrible if they are doughy! You can kind of check doneness by lifting a roll to see if the bottom has started to brown. If so, they are done. Let stand for about 5 minutes and frost. I just used a simple butter, milk, and powdered sugar frosting, but these would be extremely yummy with a cream cheese frosting too! :) Enjoy!
